Won’t stay connected and hasn’t for years. Maybe planned obsolescence so you’ll purchase again? Won’t work in my case.

ACK! TomTom would prefer to develop its subscription app. iPhone 14 connects-disconnects repeatedly. Even when connected no syncing is done. 1 star is 5 too many.
Not compatible on iOS 16+ ! Bluetooth pairing appears to complete but devices cannot communicate. Connection drops out. Tried with three different devices running iOS 16. - Issue repeats with all devices.
All the reviews are correct, maybe this app is dead and all those with TomTom devices are left with a useless device. My old original TomTom worked great for years and displayed real time traffic conditions all by itself! Now, With a newer TomTom, you have to download a cumbersome app and connect your phone to the device via Bluetooth just to get traffic. The Bluetooth connection never works! And the app suggests, in case of connectivity issues to use your cell phone hotspot!! The whole reason for me using a TomTom on long trips was to NOT use my phone/data/battery. So what’s the point of the TomTom when it requires an additional phone navigation app to work properly! (And then doesn’t!!) Definitely not an improvement and a waste of money.
No longer works, tomtom maybe out of business?
I just purchased a Tom Tom rider 550. Tried connecting to my iPhone 14 and won’t connect. One of the reasons I purchased was to see incoming messages and Siri. App just seems to not be compatible. If you try and click on watch video or read the FAQ within the app the video is private and you can’t play and read the FAQ redirects you to a page that doesn’t load. Too much of a hassle. Will be deleting app and returning gps.
Always says there is a problem without any reason. Even though the device is connected to my phone.
I try and use this app. I really do. But it does seem like there really is no support for Apple devices from the developer. I have two TomTom devices, both a TomTom Rider 550 and Go Supreme. Both work great, they just do not connect with my phone and that is a real bummer. There have not been any updates in over a year, even though there have been new devices from both Apple and TomTom. The developer support link also appears to be dead as well. Some feedback or assistance would be great.
I want to love this app. It saves me the hassle of having to program everything manually into my TomTom, but it’s extremely glitchy. I have to log out and in to get it to properly upload my new map. The only way to upload my trip is through WiFi, Bluetooth connects but it won’t update. It will lock up if I leave the app, return and try to select another location. If I add too many locations to my trip the app will lock up and crash. It’s an extremely great idea, just loaded with issues from my experience.
Keep trying to create account. Message “error, unable to create account”. What is the issue?? Very frustrating
A waste of time - inconsistent performance combined with disappointing online experience
Do not waste your time or money. This app does not work. Period. I spent hours trying to make it work without success. The MyDrive website is not any better. Totally useless app and website.
I have my Tom Tom 600 and the app won’t connect to my gps I need solutions because I paid for a gps for my job and I cant use with my iPhone
I have both a device and the nevigation app. I am confused why the don’t use the navigation app to communicate to the device. I have to have this that is well never communicates. On top of that i was told to use my phone as a hotspot. But I don’t nor want to use an unlimited data stream while I am driving. No where can I see any mention of data usage. I expect more from a Dutch company
I recently upgrade my iPhone and I’m now unable to paired my new phone with my Tomtom go 60. I current keep getting the error MyDrive is not on (It is), and Bluetooth is not on (it still is) on my Tomtom screen. It’s was working just fine with my old iPhone 7. Please help me to correct this problem. I’ve enjoyed this product until now. Thanks
If you are only using this to navigate? It’s ok once you get past that you usiallhave to search twice to get to the route screen. Most of the time searching will get the destination on the drop down, but when tapping on the destination? It usually gets you back to a blank search again. Second time works flawlessly. My experience working in conjunction with my Go Supreme? Might as well just get the destination sent to it. Planning a route is worthless on the app when it only sends the destination. Being that they do not update this app too often; I will put connectivity issues on the phone updates. I will get a month of it staying connected only to find it a hassle at times to just get it connected. Otherwise a good research tool. Not the best, but which one is? 11 oct 22 update I assume the app is not ready for iOS 16? Or is it just getting worse. I now get the my new phone paired to the supreme but the app will not recognize it? Cannot even use it as a navigation tool now. Still wants me to pair the phone to my navigation device! It IS paired! I have owned 5-6 TomTom devices. They used to be good. No Mr/Mrs developer; I do not want a link to your support website. Tired of trying to find solutions on your site.
The app doesn’t connect to my devices. I go to my iPhone settings and see 2 Bluetooth connections for both of my devices, but only one connection will connect. I go to the app on my phone and it says that it isn’t connected. I can’t get the messages or phone calls to work.
My dinosaur of a tomtom still doesnt connect even with the app. And im so lost as to how to update this thing
Unable to connect to Tom Tom MyDrive. Bluetooth connects fine by can’t sync traffic Update: I was finally able to connect after two days of troubleshooting and contacting customer service. Found a post on the forum. If you have an older TomTom device, you have to click “TomTom device does not have Bluetooth in the Settings menu.” And then it magically connects. It’s working great now but still leaving a 4 start reviewing for the inaccurate support troubleshooting steps.
iPhone connects but no features are connected. Why research issues for hours the TomTom Rider main purpose was phone and navigation and it’s not very good at either. TomTom even when told to use a direct route prefers scenic but that might be a user issue but again why make it complicated I just want a direct route and my phone to connect. Been using the Garmin instead as the TT is heavier for a paperweight. Trying again today for another two hours. Don’t recommend. Just silicone your cheap Garmin and use that on the cycle instead. B
I can connect my telephone to my GOS device. When I get calls, texts the device will play them. However, when I try to get the device to use the data on my telephone, it does not work. I’ve tried to find solitons on your help page. Nothing was helpful. I bought this new device for the traffic, and the have never been able to use it. I’m am very displeased with this app.
You can already plan your route using the Tom Tom Tom Go app. If it’s supposed to sync routes with the Go App, it doesn’t. It keeps giving me an error message that something went wrong.
Can you please update it or something, because it’s not working as it’s supposed to, as a driver it’s not synchronizing with my Tomtom Go 600. Please do something …Thanks
You cant trust its live traffic data, the app tells you 30min and where it takes you hour and half to get there.
This app worked ok, except for having to use 2 apps. THEN the apps stopped syncing. 😡 I also couldn’t find a way to reach out to an actual person. I want my money back, we depended on this app for pulling our RV.
Traveling the app won’t connect to the device even though it shows connected. Deleted the app and Bluetooth connections to reset several times. WONT send routes to device.
Location data is over 5 years old. The place where I work is showing the name from 2016 and we are in late 2021. The name changed in January of 2017.
It used to.
This is the Worst app I’ve ever had period. Had a great Tom Tom app I used for years but Tom Tom no longer supports it so I tried this and paid for it. It has no voice, gets me lost, takes you on roads that are partially paved for no reason other than the app can’t do what it should.
If the app connected via Bluetooth and worked correctly, this would be a great app. It use to connect occasionally but, not any more. Is there going to be a update anytime soon ?
Traffic works now, and it keeps connection. The only issue seems to be "send destination" or "send to device" it keeps saying sync failed. Garmin seems to be so far ahead of tomtom on everything but the maps. That's why I still use tomtom. But please fix the bugs
I used to love this app and my TomTom but then I lost live traffic due to an update on my iPhone. This has never been fixed by TomTom which I think with all the iPhone users they would address this. I bought my TomTom with live traffic for life but that was a lie. Very disappointed because TomTom has the best navigation maps in the business. Just so sad.
UPDATE: I gave up and uninstalled the app from my phone. And then, guess what? The GPS magically started connecting to the phone and working great for traffic and construction info! The TomTom GPS software team knows what they are doing. The app team does not, so just get their app out of the picture and start enjoying the benefits of phone connectivity! ORIGINAL: The TomTom motorcycle GPS is an excellent standalone device: fast hardware, nice UI, good features. But this is 2020, not 2005, and connectivity and smartphone integration are a must. Here TomTom completely fails. The connection between device and phone is inconsistent, and even within the device itself it doesn't even seem to know when it is connected. It will display traffic on the map but the icons say it is disconnected. Meanwhile it will happily report messaging as connected but nothing comes through. The underlying code must not have any sensible design and TomTom's only option if they want to deliver anything resembling a reliable experience will be to have it completely rewritten by a competent team. Right now they are just another in a long list of good hardware companies that has been utterly unable to make the transition to modern times. I'll search for third-party solutions if I keep the device.
Updating again. App still won’t do traffic over Bluetooth w/IOS 14.x on a new iPhone. Started w/IOS 13. Hotspot doesn’t work well, device clearly doesn’t restart network conn. after going to sleep. Terrible product, doesn’t provide promised features.
Im in US and the road trips is useless for me. Is there any way i can get “road trips” or rider route collection in the US?
Still does not connect to the 620. Seems like we are being led around the mulberry bush by this company. Works fine with my android phone though.
The 620 is extremely slow when setting up my routes and with changing as I go to the next step as I progress through my routes. After setting up a route I’ll check the route it has set up. The directions will start off reading fine and then they will repeat themselves and I’ll get messages for unnamed road for a common street or route. Last night for instance, I setup a route. I’m on I-24S in KY and all of a sudden the screen starts flashing from the route screen to the screen when its searching. Not very happy with it.
The app freezes and doesn’t work right.
App never adapts to iOS updates. Only fully functional with androids. iPhone users you’re better off using your phone as a personal hotspot because I doubt TomTom developers will ever fix this problem.
Not a big fan of MyDrive it’s not accurate when I search instead of giving me the close by option it give me far away and something else. Like for example I search for United States postal service it show me ups I don’t have no business in ups. Please fix this issues or I have to return tomtom gps and get garmin. CAN YOU PLEASE UPDATE THE MAPS MORE ACCURATE AND FASTER. Most of the address don’t exist on tomtom. I know it’s new bla bla. Apple already have google have it but tomtom a year later will have it.
Like everything there is room for improvement, but it works. The annoying “PLAN ROUTE” issue that occurred after an update resolved itself without having to uninstall and reinstall the app. I did, however, restart my phone, which is something I do every morning.
Update - March 13, 2021 Refuses to work - I recommend switching to Garmin. I was hopeful that after waiting MORE THAN TWO YEARS for an update on the app, the updates that were pushed out in February would finally address the chronic issue with Bluetooth not maintaining connectivity. They didn’t. On the positive side, the setup process went faster and it did seem to initially work but just as before, the first time my GPS (Rider 550) lost connection with my phone, it failed to reconnect. I even tried a factory reset on my device. Same results. It’s also worth noting that I believe this is a problem with the GPS as much as it is with the app. Last year, I bought a new Cardo Packtalk headset. I went through the instructions to also pair it to my TomTom. It was nice to have the spoken directions in my helmet as I rode but, just like my phone, the first time the headset lost connection to the GPS (due to going to sleep or being our of range), it failed to reconnect. I’ve been struggling with my TomTom Rider 550 for over 2 1/2 years, trying to get it to just do what it is supposed to. My recommendation is to buy Garmin instead, as I am getting ready to do. I hate to toss out my Rider that is still in brand-new condition, but it just refuses to perform as advertised and I’ve wasted hundreds of hours troubleshooting it to come to the conclusion that it never will. ——- Update - June 27, 2020 ——— Stability of Bluetooth connection between GPS & phone STILL has not been improved after 9 months. HOW HAS THIS APP NOT BEEN UPDATED SINCE iOS 13 WAS RELEASED 10 MONTHS AGO?? iOS 14 is now around the corner. Come on TomTom! In its current form, the app is useless. My advice it’s to not waste your time installing and trying to make it work until a new version is released. I’ve literally spent dozens of hours trying and retrying every troubleshooting step provided and my results are the same as others have reported: IF you get the device to connect to your phone, you’ll lose that the first time you power down the GPS. ————————— Had to downgrade my last review. I thought the instructions to reset my device had fixed the Bluetooth connectivity issues that have been widely reported but, alas, I’m still experiencing those issues. Unable to get traffic on device, as well as lacking the display telling me who is calling or texting. Also no way to invoke Siri from the GPS, so basically the GPS is off no use except as a basic GPS. I remain hopeful that the app will eventually be improved. —— Second review below —— (Dec 2, 2019: Surprisingly, the instructions given DO fix the IOS 13 Bluetooth issues) Like apparently everyone else posting recently, my Bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone 8 has been broken ever since the update to IOS 13. I’ve deleted the app from my phone (and removed and reset the Bluetooth settings) and then re-paired to my Rider550 so many times that I lost count. Most times, I could get both Bluetooth connections to work for a few minutes, and then would lose the connection to my phone that supported traffic, messages, calling, and basically everything. Also, I’d lose all connections anytime my GPS powered off or went to sleep or otherwise lost connection to my phone. I resisted the full reset of my GPS, thinking that would be another useless waste of time and that it would be more involved that it was. Out of frustration, I followed the instructions from TomTom and not only was it fast and easy, but most importantly, IT WORKED. I’ve power-cycled my GPS and phone several times since then and it reestablishes the connections each time. I see the phone icon on my GPS again (so I can touch it to initiate Siri requests) and I see messages and traffic displayed on my GPS screen once again. For those who have been reluctant - as I was - let me assure you this is super easy and doesn’t take much time. You won’t lose any data other than custom settings on your GPS (such as avoidances) but that only took 5 or 10 minutes to set back to my liking. All of your places and routes will sync back from your MyDrive account once your devices is back online. Also, you do NOT have to reinstall maps (I feared this). The factory reset left the current map in place. The entire process took about 15 min from start to finish. In case you don’t have them already, here are the steps: 1) “Forget” Bluetooth connections to your device on your phone 2) Delete MyDrive app from your phone 3) Restart your phone (I did a soft reset - volume up, volume down, hold down power button until phone shuts off and back on with apple logo) 4) Reset GPS to factory settings (Menu | Settings | System | Reset Device) 5) Answer prompts to setup language and WiFi, and log into your MyDrive account 6) Download MyDrive app to iPhone and login to your account 7) Follow prompts to pair with phone I really didn’t expect this to work after 3 months of frustration. I wish I’d tried this sooner. You really have nothing to lose by trying it, as you won’t lose any data and it only takes about 15 minutes. Good luck! —- Original Review Below —- Recently bought a TomTom Rider 550 for my motorcycle. The MyDrive app is a perfect companion for it. I can search for a point of interest, address, city, etc. in the app and save it to My Places and the second I boot up my GPS, it’s there ready for me to ride to. I also like that the map view in the app looks just like the GPS and also that in the website. The consistency is wonderful. My only complaint is that when using the app on my iPad, it only supports portrait view. Come on TomTom, let’s get a landscape view so that we can fully enjoy the experience on an iPad too!
Follow up: I had to do full iPhone restore from the ICloud. I chose the one from before the App update. This totally removed the Ghost MyDrive App. This is crazy ridiculous that I needed to do this to fully remove the corrupted App. Several days later I took big risk and downloaded the new App ending in .2 (Current version ) This one instantly worked. I then spent an hour, as always getting it the App connect to the iPhone, I.e Traffic etc. It’s now working. This is yet another TomTom disaster. There have been many in last 15 years. Ps. Tomtom CS responsereply with hyper link, didn’t work. I manually typed the link, to search and that just took me to Tomtom.com. USELESS “iPhone 12 iOS 14,4 Last night I updated the App, i opened the App and was unable to enter email and password. I could type in the boxes, but they remained empty. I rebooted the phone several times. Still could not login. I then deleted the App, it’s not on my screen, But when I go to App Store, to reinstall it shows “Open” not “Cloud”. I tap on “Open”, nothing happens. URGENT HELP. REG.”
Up until this latest update, the app worked without a hitch. Now when I use the trip planner with multiple stops and attempt to send it to my device, the app inexplicable closes. When I tab back into it, the entire trip is cleared out. I’ve tried dozens of times to get it to work to no avail. The entire appeal of purchasing the device was this time saving feature. I’m disappointed, to say the least.
Live traffic isn’t working in the app or on my device (Go 620) what’s going on???
The new update on this app has too many bugs, the fonts are the the same color as the background and you are unable to see what you are typing. Also some of the screens are black when putting in a location to send to your gps.
New app update features black letters with dark mode that cannot be changed unless you change your phone to light mode. Great job. Can't read anything.
Can’t even submit a comment to support using the internal “talk to us”. It’s just junk. Go with Garmin.
I have used other Tom Tom’s for years and I thought this would be a great upgrade. After strenuous Efforts to link the GPS with my cell phone, it loses connection when i go out to Bluetooth range then everything must be deleted and reinstalled every single time.I tried with my android and my Apple, and it looks like Tom Tom has given up on any bug fixes. AND Unless you link the Tom Tom to your phone you no longer get live traffic updates as you did in the past. Read the other reviews, I am not alone this is a BAD APP that they never fixed.
